Key trends of the week in innovation, industry, and regional development in the AIRR.

Digital infrastructure for AI
The Russian Government has supported the creation of a Far Eastern AI cluster in Yakutia. The region plans to establish a data center to develop artificial intelligence services. Already today, solutions developed by Yakutian engineers are used by libraries in 25 regions across the country.

During a working meeting with Mikhail Mishustin, Yakutia’s head Aisen Nikolaev presented the region’s development results: construction of new energy facilities, digitalization of the economy, expansion of the IT park and AI laboratory, and implementation of major infrastructure projects.

Arctic — territory of technological leadership
The Arkhangelsk Region is preparing to host the IV “Arctic – Regions” Forum. The main theme will be technological leadership in the Arctic: development of industry, shipbuilding, robotics, unmanned technologies, the Northern Sea Route, and the Transarctic Transport Corridor.

In Arkhangelsk, under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev, participants discussed a comprehensive project for the development of the Arctic Zone and the Transarctic Transport Corridor. Priorities include construction of a deep-water port, development of shipbuilding, and formation of new northern transport infrastructure.

New production facilities
In the Krasnoyarsk Krai, production of the first domestically made full-cycle steel gate valves has been launched. The new products are intended for the oil and gas sector, energy, metallurgy, and machine building, with production built using modern digital technologies.

At Sevmash in Arkhangelsk, the nuclear submarine “Ulyanovsk” of the Yasen-M project was launched. The vessel incorporates advanced domestic developments in marine engineering, radioelectronics, and power plants.

Innovative regions
Tatarstan, Tomsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Ulyanovsk, and Samara regions are among the top 10 in the HSE University Rating of Innovative Development of Russian Regions. Governor Vladimir Mazur noted that the Tomsk Region has entered the top three for the first time. The region strengthened its positions thanks to its high scientific and technical potential, development of the Engineering and Innovation Center, launch of a world-class scientific center, and implementation of technological leadership projects.

Chemical sovereignty
In the Irkutsk Region, over 81 billion rubles will be allocated by 2036 for the development of Usolye-Sibirskoye and the creation of a Federal Chemistry Center. The project will combine environmental rehabilitation of the territory, launch of new chemical production facilities, establishment of an engineering center and industrial park, and workforce training for the new industry.

Workforce for technological leadership
From August 21 to 26, Kaluga will host the finals of the “Professionals” championship in industrial competencies. More than 14,000 participants from Russia and 30 countries will compete in areas including industrial robotics, mechatronics, space systems engineering, optoelectronics, and other competencies in demand by modern industry.
