Innovations in the AIRR Regions: Digest, July 20

Key trends of the week in innovation, industry, and regional development in the AIRR.

New Production Facilities
The Russian government has supported the expansion of the Green Valley Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Tatarstan. Eight projects in biotechnology, petrochemicals, and advanced processing of raw materials are planned for the new site in the Nizhnekamsk District, with a total investment of nearly 300 billion rubles.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak congratulated the thousands of employees of AVTOVAZ on the upcoming 60th anniversary of the plant's founding. The meeting also discussed the economic development of the Samara Region with regional governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev.

In the Ulyanovsk Region, the PROMTEKH-Ulyanovsk company has mastered the production of domestically produced emergency slides for aircraft, completely replacing foreign-made ones. The company also produces interiors and passenger seats for civil aviation and is expanding its capacity with the support of the Industrial Development Fund.

Scientific Infrastructure
In Bashkortostan, construction has been completed on all seven towers of the Interuniversity Student Campus. It will become a modern scientific and educational environment for more than four thousand students and young scientists, combining educational spaces, laboratories, coworking spaces, and sports infrastructure. Commissioning is scheduled for 2027.

Science and Technology
In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Siberian Federal University has identified new strategic development areas. Priorities include the creation of a competence center for radio electronics and satellite communications systems, a predictive analytics center using artificial intelligence, a federal center for additive manufacturing, and an industrial design testing facility.

Scientists from Perm Polytechnic University have developed a technology for producing fiber optics from domestically produced raw materials. This new solution will improve the reliability of optical systems for aviation, rocket science, the oil and gas industry, and medicine, reducing dependence on imported materials.

Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Governor Ruslan Kukharuk has become a lecturer in the federal educational program "Arkhitektory.rf" (the national project "Infrastructure for Life"). It has been implemented by the DOM.RF Foundation since 2018.

Human Resources 
The Samara Region has been among the leaders in the "Student Startup 2026" competition. Forty-eight young researchers and entrepreneurs in the region received grants of 1 million rubles each for the development of technology projects. Most of the initiatives focus on digital technologies, new devices, and biotechnology.

Innovations in the Agricultural Sector
At the All-Russian Field Day in the Altai Region, cutting-edge solutions for the agricultural sector were presented—from unmanned systems and precision farming technologies to modern developments in breeding and seed production. The "Big Agrotechnological Project" brings together key tools for increasing productivity and technological development in the industry.

Energy of the Future
At a meeting of the Russian State Council Commission on Energy, chaired by Aisen Nikolaev, the Head of Yakutia, issues related to the development of domestic renewable energy technologies and energy storage systems were discussed. The region's experience modernizing local energy systems confirms the effectiveness of such solutions for remote areas.

In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, work continues to include the nuclear power plant construction project in the general plan for the placement of Russian electric power facilities. The project's implementation will be a long-term driver of industrial and energy infrastructure development in the region. Governor Gleb Nikitin believes that the failure to complete the Gorky Nuclear Power Plant at the end of the last century was a mistake.
