Siberian Circular Photon Source “SKIF” to be the main theme of TECHNOPROM in Novosibirsk

The XIII International Forum on Technological Development “Technoprom-2026” will take place in the Novosibirsk Region from August 26 to 28. The forum’s program was presented at a press conference on July 28 by Deputy Governor Irina Manuylova, Regional Minister of Science and Innovation Policy Vadim Vasilyev, and Executive Director of the Novosibirsk Region Fund for Scientific and Technological Development Anastasia Ivashina.

As Irina Manuylova emphasized, a significant part of the forum’s agenda will focus on the practical use of the Siberian Circular Photon Source “SKIF” to be the main theme of TECHNOPROM in Novosibirsk “SKIF” infrastructure. “A broad discussion is planned on the capabilities of the new SKIF scientific infrastructure and other ‘mega-science’ class facilities created in Russia, as well as new world-class campuses. These facilities will become growth points for fundamental science and applied research, accelerate the market introduction of developments, and provide corporations with access to unique installations to solve priority technological development tasks,” the Deputy Governor noted.

The main theme of this year’s forum, held within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology, is “Russian Science as the Foundation of Technological Leadership.” The forum agenda includes discussions on the formation of new research infrastructure, accelerated integration of R&D results into the economy, increased state and business investment in science, engagement of talented youth in scientific activities, development of international scientific and technological cooperation, and strengthening trade and economic ties.

During the press conference, it was noted that the forum’s mascot, the mouse Quantik, will this year don a cosmonaut spacesuit, and for the first time the forum will feature two plenary sessions. The central event will be a plenary session chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko on the topic “Mega-Facilities as a Tool for Achieving Technological Leadership.” Participants will examine new opportunities for the development of fundamental science and applied research emerging with the commissioning of CKP “SKIF.”

The forum’s business program includes 10 tracks: “The Role of ‘Mega-Science’ Class Facilities in Implementing National Projects for Technological Leadership,” “Intelligent Systems. Hybrid Intelligence,” “Production and Automation Tools – Advanced Domestic Solutions,” “Medicine of the Future: The Age of Technology,” “Bioeconomy. Bioengineering and Smart Agriculture,” “Environmental Well-Being: Biosphere and Humanity,” “New Nuclear and Energy Technologies – Energy for Life,” “New Materials and Chemistry,” and “Decade of Science and Technology.”

A separate track, “Workforce for National Projects of Technological Leadership,” has been allocated to discuss personnel issues. This concluding discussion is intended to outline mechanisms for sustainable interaction between the state, universities, and business necessary to create a talent pool for national technological leadership projects.

Regional Minister of Science and Innovation Policy Vadim Vasilyev noted that the forum will be complemented by satellite events, including the XX Siberian Venture Fair, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary; over two decades, more than 800 projects have participated in this platform, many of which have become successful businesses. Other satellite events include the International Russia-Africa Cooperation Forum “Education. Business. Culture – 2026,” the “CIS Scientific and Technological Cooperation Forum: Health and the Future,” the VI National Technology Transfer Forum, and the Intellectual Property School.

Special attention at the forum will be given to the development of international scientific, technical, and economic cooperation; delegations from Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, and several African countries have already confirmed their participation.
